@PositiveNewsUK@press.coop has reported that 2023 saw an 8% total net greenhouse gas emissions reduction in the European Union. For context that’s a level similar to those at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic when we had no flights, minimal industry and traffic-free roads!

A massive decline in the use of coal combined with the soaring use of renewable energy is to thank for this reduction in emissions. The facts come from the European Environment Agency (EEA) Trends and Projections report and represent “significant progress towards climate neutrality for the EU”.
