Big Oil Companies/CEOs to be Charged with Reckless Endangerment?

Would you say that knowing for decades that havoc is being wreaked on our world by the burning of fossil fuels, but carrying on regardless (AND simultaneously suppressing climate science) amounts to reckless endangerment? 🤔

Lawyers in the USA who have prepared a prosecution memorandum for New York State certainly think so. They are looking to make a case for criminal charges to be brought against big oil executives in the state.

Published by advocacy group Public Citizen Public Citizen and Fair and Just Prosecution, support for the memorandum comes from elected officials including New York State senator Kristen Gonzalez:

“Big oil must be held accountable for their actions, and justice must be won for those who’ve suffered the devastating impacts of climate-related disasters.”

The memorandum is the latest in a growing movement calling for CEOs to receive lengthy jail terms for their actions.
